Building Trades & Construction Design Technologies

boy cutting wood with a jigsaw The Building Construction Technologies program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers that support both students who plan to enter the workforce immediately after graduation and those who plan to attend college. Students continuing to college may obtain dual credit (both high school and college credit) while attending high school.

While working on projects, students learn through experience how to work in teams, both as team leaders and team members. They use algebra and geometry to solve construction problems and learn green building techniques. All classes emphasize safety, including OSHA requirements, while learning construction skills.

Students will become proficient in the technical skills that include competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Architecture & Construction career cluster.
